Training
Your training will be as individual as you are. It will start with an assessment of your physical well-being and a discussion about your health and fitness history; we will identify your desires and set realistic goals and timescales. Only when I have all that information will I be able to plan an entirely unique programme for your entirely unique needs. One size certainly doesn't fit all and, unlike the Model T Ford, you can have any colour and any shade.
In my studio, I have a full range of fitness equipment which can be used for indoor or outdoor exercise. Each session will be different, aiming to develop your whole body. Problems will be corrected, weaknesses strengthened, fitness enhanced and shape sculpted. Sessions might be a mixture of interval training, weight-bearing exercise, circuit training, kettlebells or flexi-bar; I will construct appropriate work-outs for you using any and all appropriate methods and equipment. Over a period of time you will see measurable improvements as you work towards your goals.
Assessment
It is likely that over the years you may have developed various postural and movement dysfunctions. You may not even know they are there. However, it is vital for you and for me to understand how your body currently operates. It is vital not only that your programme with Purple Fitness firstly does not worsen any pre-existing problems but is designed to correct them.
Each new client will undergo an assessment using the Kinetic Chain Assessment (KCA). Briefly, the Kinetic Chain comprises the skeletal system, muscular system and the nervous system. During the assessment, I will ask you to carry out some basic human movements such as squatting, bending and twisting. This will provide an indication of your body's stationary posture, muscle firing patterns, movement, neurological working and functional profiling, pinpointing any areas of concern.
Your training programme will then be devised including any necessary corrective exercise techniques, thereby maximising the success of your efforts by improving posture, muscle strength, flexibility, core stability and correcting imbalances, reducing or even eradicating aches and pains, fatigue and discomfort.
A full Kinetic Chain Assessment can also be provided on request as an individual service, in which case you will be provided with a detailed report and analysis with a programme summary covering corrective exercise for weaknesses and imbalances, flexibility and nutritional advice that are unique to your specific needs.
Equipment
Kettlebells
Kettlebells deliver unparalleled fitness training, so if you're looking to burn fat, build up high levels of cardio fitness and phenomenal gains in strength and power then Kettlebells are the perfect choice.
Kettlebell training can give you the results you have always dreamed of, be it muscle tone, cardio improvement, weight loss or strength. They work the posterior chain (your butt!!) thereby strengthening and tightening the glutes, core and back.
And Kettlebells are great for women. In fact they are suitable to include in any effective fitness and strength training programme.
The Flexi-Bar
With origins in German physiotherapy, the FLEXI-BAR brings vibration training to your workouts and corrective programme. Vibrations created by swinging the FLEXI-BAR target the deep core muscles of the body that attach to the spine, which react and begin to work. These deep, involuntary core muscles are our postural muscles and are responsible for holding our spine in its optimal position. Having strong core muscles can prevent many common back problems, such as slipped discs, sciatica, lumbar pain, neck pain, rounded shoulders and frozen shoulder and an improved balance can prevent many fall injuries.
With as little as 30-45 minutes FLEXI-BAR exercise per week, you can often expect immediate changes in core strength, and rapid improvements in weak or injured muscles.
